Good Friday @VDM, as least for me.

Took Jesse and Tray to Best Buy and GameStop.  Got nice Nano for Adam, cd for Tray, and almost lost the $100 I was given for Adam's Nano before I walked out of the building.

I still had to do 3 of the 6 logs, make the calls, and leave work 20 minutes after I signed out to complete my chores.

Good dinner from Ralph's at $45, which includes mashed and gravy, sausage, pumpkin pie, milk, humus, blue cheese, and hard salami, all of which I love.

Aaron was punished again for pooping in his pants.  He is punished almost all the time. 

The goats for punishment on the three units are Aaron and James;

Kristopher on Earth.  Christian used to be a goat, but two staff got fired for miss treating him so now he is handled with kid gloves.

Darby is the most punished kid on Ocean.  Able used to be one of the most punished but now he eats candy in the sups office as a reward for good behavior.

Varsety is not punished because he only has one leg, but Aaron, James, Kristopher, and Darby are always punished because they have a mental disability that is not as viable as the one Varsety has.

Oh, well.  I can't fix the world, let alone vdm.  I just go along to get along.

I only have 4 more months to work at vdm.  I want to retire May 1, 2012 and do my see the usa tour.

I then hope to come back September 1, 2012 and work at least Saturday and Sunday nights, or even 40 hours per week.  Time will tell.

Paid State Farm and ATT.com.  Now for breakfast of MOM, which I love to the hilt, then either haircut or Samy's camera shop, or else where.

My only goals are paying all pure and scwd and doing the accounting with Andrew Schnee.

I feel well, all systems seem to be on the go, and I am in a positive mood.  I look forward to my life with gusto.

I want a good camera, a four month vacation, and a good heater for my Ford.  Time will tell.

I love my apartment,

I love my car,

I love my job, sometimes,

I feel good physically,

I feel good emotionally,

And I have lots of good things to look forward to in the near future, i.e. a vacation starting May, 1, 2012...

Good Wed@VDM, no computers or video games for Sky

Armando announced that there would be no computers or video games for sky unit because the boys were not behaving good enough.  James had been walking off the unit and Aaron refused group because he was not allowed to go on the outing to the science mesuem.  So Armando told me to go to another unit and I did.  I will do the same today, even though Damian, Jesse, Jamie, all were eligible to play video games.  I worked on Ocean and Earth units until I returned to Sky at 9pm and did half the logs.
Gabe was also eligible for video games, but if two boys are not behaving well then I shouldn't work on sky unit.  We'll see tonight.

Ate dinner at BBB and it was excellent.  To bed about 3am or so.

Tuesday is good. SCE Completed! AllPure&SCWD next

Talked with sce.com and they will mail me a check for $291.86 to close the account, which I will deposit and then close the estate account.  Pay scwd and all pure tomorrow am and go to work in the pm.

Still undecided about the Nikon 9100 or the Canon 510, or any camera for general use.

Call State Farm and ATT to settle both bills and pay what is owed.

Send back the Fire and the Nano and the cards to Alter Reality, and the Screen Cast, and the extra dvds and lots of other stuff.

My big issue is taking a nap early and then staying up late and not feeling rested after sleeping in the morning light.

The only way I seem to sleep well is to go to bed about 130am and get up about 730am every day to feel rested.  Interesting.

Last night I went to BBB and waited for 5 min for a table.  The guy walked by me and did cashier work and then took the names of other potential customers and then I went up to him and told him I would take my $15 else where since no one seemed to even recognize me as a potential customer.

I went to Tony's Pizza and it was very good.  I think I will eat the rest of it right now.  So there bbb.

Merry Sunday XMass. Doing laundry finally

Slept well, eat well, feeling well, soon to go to work on XMass Day.

Outing for Damian, electronics for the guys left on the unit.  All was ok.

A very good Friday. Got 4 ups deliveries.

I'm impressed with my new Nikon S8100, the Clingo dash mount, the HP 1000 printer, and 12 3x Tees.

Good pm at work.  Lots of computer, xbox, and ps2 and iPhone and iPad usage.  Even some iTunes movie usage.

James, Aaron, and Tray are out to lunch, but any more so than Varsety?  Mental handicaps are just as debilitating as physical handicaps, if not more so because they are largely invisible.  Yet we punish all the while.  Punishment, rather than teaching or training may not be our goal, but it certainly is our process, in spite of our stated desire to teach rather than simply punish.

Now to explore the new Nikon.

Lots of computer and iPad time.   Waiting impatiently for my tee's from JCPenny, my new Nikon Coolpix S910, my dash mount Clingo, my travel printer, and something else I can't remember now.

Work is well, I feel well, I need to do the payment to all pure and to scwd and the fax to sce.

Otherwise all is better than I have any right to expect. 

I'm looking forward to a three month vacation starting May 1, 2011.  From North California, to Idaho, to Texas, to Ohio, to Rockford, to New Jersey, to PA, to WVA, to Vermont, to NYC, to Florida, and back home again if all goes well.

I hope I can take a 3 month LOA and go back to work August 1, 2012.  Time will tell.

Installed new dlink wireless router last night and it works well.  The ASUS is still slower than the Fujitsu, demonstrably so.  I like the Fujitsu better overall.  It only has an i5 but it is smaller, lighter, has blue ray and 8GBs of main memory.  The asus only has 6GBs of main memory and a good video card, but the asus is slower overall.  I might try to put 8gbs of memory in the asus.

Got the new $90 Bose headphones today.  They are ok, but I can't tell a lot of difference so far.

Hanukkah went well at Palms.  Damian on cd, several unstable kids, but no major issues.  Get haircut tomorrow and fix Ed's computer, and do the sce, scwd, and all pure bills and call the accountant.

Be thankful for all that I have and have not earned.  Do any of us earn our good fortune?  I doubt it.  Simply enjoy it while it lasts and be prepared for the fact that it will turn and all things must come to an end.

I love my car, my apartment, I like my job, I am hopeful that I will be able to get a good settlement from Marion's estate, and have a good see the usa tour starting in April, 2012.

The new Nikon cable works well.  Asian dinner last night, expensive but ok.  Now for Malt O Meal and to work by 12:30pm

I was thinking today that I love my car more than I loved Toni.  She was fickle and we broke up, while my car will never leave me on its own, it is comfortable, and as dependable as a car can be.  So there.

Now to shower and go to work.

by the way, Ron C no longer works at VDM.  He did something, horse played with a resident, which lead to accusations, all of which became grounds for termination.

That's six in six months.  Julian, David, Ron, Mark, Zyggy, Lisa, Stephanie, Judy, and Sean out due to carrying a kid on his leg as part of a medical excused absence, and ill pay of 75 % of your normal salary?  Also add in Adrienne who left to go to nursing school.  That's 9.5 employees who left the job in the last 6 months, or so.

I feel pretty good.  I am thankful that I haven't had call backs from Kaiser regarding requests for more test for kidney and anemia blood work and such.  I hope this means that my Kaiser issues have stabilized and I don't need any more tests as of now.  The future will take care of itself.

Late post for Tuesday. Liver and onions @Lancers

The liver was too well done, but the onions were very good.  The veggies were under cooked but the whole meal was acceptable.  Did two loads of laundry and read a book on the pc until 6am.

Late post for Monday. Bought $101 worth of cds

Watched JCSuperstar with lots of emotional out pouring.  Most of John Wayne movie.  Eat well at Bob's and had a quiet day.  Shopped at Wal Mart and bought a Monster CD adapter and it seems to work well.  $19.99 but if it works it will be worth it.

Home at midnight. Good food at Ralph's.

I feel well.  If I get the bills paid tomorrow, I will feel excellently.  Good day at vdm.

Why do they give the kids a "media restriction" or a unit restriction which includes a video game restriction at the first sign of mis behavior?  This leads to kid frustration, kid assault, green sheets, lots of t o time, and lots of frustration all around.  In tonight's case, all because Able wanted to listen to music on the computer, then all of the above ensues.  Why?  To what end?  We punish so he will learn from his punishment and not misbehave again?  Does it work?

Feeling energized for a change.  I sleep well but wake not full of vim, vigor, and vitality.  I don't know why.  Usually I have to sit around the computer and check out the net before I get up and go out.

Most of my chores are taken care of, except for washing clothes and cleaning my apartment.  Paying the estates bills are the over riding chore I have to complete and do the accounting for Howard Schnee and the court.

Find the check fro $178 and cash it.
Return the Kindle Fire.
Find the two Kindles and take them to work.
Buy two or more cassette tapes for my Taurus.
Return the Belkin Screen Cast.
Return the iPod Nano.

Do other chores as they pop up.  bye for now.

Up at 11am feeling ok. Fixed Rojas' Toshiba memory

Stayed up late and gert on waking up a bit.  Toshiba recognizes only half of the new memory, but this is enough so it runs well.  Still has a registry error which prevents iTunes and MSE installation, but otherwise runs well.  I have nothing more I can do.

I don't feel at the top of my game, but I will feel better once I complete the bills for Marion's estate tomorrow or Monday.  Then all else will fall into place, I hope.  Keep up the good work.

Up Friday at 10am feeling well.

Turkey dinner for breakfast.  Now to go get another cassette adapter, and be at work on time for two days in a row.  I hope it will be a good day at work because there will be video games and computers and electronics at 6pm.  Also pictures and movies.

Then no Rehab for the week end.  That should keep the residents from their constant barrage of angry criticism, threats, and punishment.  Is this how you rehabilitate injured children?  Criticize them, threaten them, and punish them?  I don't think so.  Time will tell.

Good Thrusday and Wednesday at vdm.

My over riding concern is that Rehab seems to be focused on criticizing, threatening, and punishing the kids.  The kids are rowdy, they are not good at following directions, and they talk out of turn a lot.  This is one reason why they are at vdm.  Is is wise for Rehab to constantly criticize, threaten, and punish the group for the same thing for the last several years?  I doubt it.

Monday was a bad day at the gym.  Tuesday and Wednesday were punishment days for all the kids, even those who did no wrong at the gym.  All kids had to answer ten questions on social skills and what happens if they don't use them.  Wednesday was a re hash of the insufficient answers given by the kids on Tuesday.  Thursday was a back yard game which had the threat that if it didn't go well, the next two days would be spent doing the equivalent of standards, i.e. written exercises which our kids are very poor at and resistant to doing.

Wed and Thurs nights were ok other wise.   I feel sorry for the kids since they are punished a lot for things that are often out of their control.  Oh, well.  All is ok other wise.

Jose proposed only $500 for the Honda due to...

engine problems, smog problems, battery problems, and he spent $100 to determine this.  I told him to put the Honda back where he got it and I would give him his $500 back.  His son suggested that they buy the car for $500 and then they would fix the engine, smog, and battery.  I said ok since I don't want to fool around with the machine any more.  We'll complete the transfer title when he gets the Honda to pass smog.

I could have taken the Honda to the SCAQMD and gotten $1K to junk it, but I don't want to even do that, assuming the program is still in operation.

Moving on.  I ate well at Lancer's liver and onions, drove to VDM and picked up the Compaq computer and edited the iTunes library a lot.  All purchased songs are gone, all .wav songs are goon, all comedy songs are gone, and I will edit a lot of the duplicates out until there are less than 25,000 songs total.  Then I will start a new iTunes account and up load all the music and get it converted to a good format and then download it to a new computer data base, I hope.

Work today at 2pm.  Do the fax to sce, scwd, and all pure pay off, then property taxes and income taxes can be completed and the estate can go to the court for final distribution.

Keep up the positive attitude.

Sold Honda to Jose, $500 down, smog and battery

to be passed, then duplicate title change tomorrow at 11am.  Very good chicken dinner at Lancer's, bought and will return a new Microsoft Touch Mouse, bought a second copy of Last of the Mohicans to watch tonight.

Called Inga and all is well.  She asked me about the financial guy and the status of the estate.  I have to return the Alter Reality cards via USPS tomorrow, pay scwd, all pure pool service, and get the fax to SCE to get a refund for Marion's final electric bill.  Then the property taxes and income taxes and anything else to be completed by the accountant, and then the request for a court date for a final distribution of the assets of the estate.

Monday am up at 9am when Jose called about car

Going to see Jose with registration in hand and needing duplicate title for the wonderful Honda soon.  Other chores to follow.

Sunday PM shift disagreement over video time

Sequin said the kids had to "earn" the right to play video games, despite no video game time for Sky Unit all am shift due to no video games brought in by staff for the kids to use.  My question:  Do the kids have to earn the right to read books, watch movies, play cards, or play outside?  How come video games are the first thing taken away when the kids do something "wrong", but it is fine for the kids to have to spend 8 hours on a weekend day or 4 hours on a school day only being able to watch sports on tv which the staff want to watch?

The kids did computers, iPads, and xbox games from 5:30 to 10pm.  All else was well.

Saturday night I appologized to the kids for my error

I had to apologize before the whole group for thinking that my games were stolen.  I couldn't think of any other explanation.

Otherwise a good evening and all is well.

Friday night I thought my xbox games were gone...

Not so.  I had left them at home unattended.  We still searched some of the kids rooms and acted as if the kids had stolen them, not at my request, but I didn't protest either.

Otherwise all was well.

Good Thanksgiving Day at vdm. Normal day

Kids went to the movies, ate turkey and such, and had a quiet pm.  I'm done here for now.

Good night at vdm last night.  Kids all content and not upset or angry or explosive.

My car is running well and I am so grateful I don't know how to express it in words.

I feel well, I love my family, I like work and where I live.

Monday rested, Tuesday as well...

Got Alex's Dragon Ball z game to him, filled car with $62 of gas, ate well of fried chicken at Lancer's, and watched 2012 the movie and then the director's commentary. 

Slept from 2am to 8am, did more computer stuff, archived files, toured the web, and so on.

Now debating going to Lancer's for lunch or liver and onions for dinner.  I also would like to check out the dvds at the cd rom store.

I doubt Howard will call me before Thanksgiving, giving more to be thankful for and time to do the fax to sce, pay all pure, and pay scwd, do the property taxes, or have the accountant do them, and pay any remaining bills due to Marion.

Time will tell.

I am irritated that the NYTimes took me for $35 and won't let me cancel the online subscription.  I want to write a letter to the editor about this unjust thing.  Perhaps to the WA PO, or the New York Daily News.  We'll see.

The supervision goes with the kid, not on the unit.  If all the kids are occupied productively on one unit, then the staff should be on that unit.  Too often on VDM 12 kids are on one unit and only 3 staff on that unit.  Staff should go with the kid.

Do the bills tomorrow am, see the accoutant, and have a great 2 days off.

Take the game over to Alex, as well.

I'm bothered by my anger at James over sandwhich

James asked for a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, at which point I offered him a kitchen made sandwhich.  He refused it and asked for a hand made sandwich, which I made.  He refused that sandwich and said he wanted to make his own sandwich.  I told the supervisor, Jonathan, who checked with the lead, who said the kids couldn't make their own sandwiches, so James ate the sandwich I made him.

What bothers me is that I was angry that he refused both sandwiches I offered him, one after I made it just for him.  He dislikes too much jelly on his sandwich, and he scrapes the excess jelly off the sandwich.  Why do I get angry when a kid like this does what he does?

Other than that, a good night.  Lots of computers, xbox, playstation, iPad, and Fire.

No swallowing issues Friday night because I took the meds on time, I hope.

and get it to SCE, the all pure, and the scwd.  Meet the accountant Monday, or so. 

Note to self:  Feed tuna mayonnaise and you will have instant tuna salad.

Take the meds every night to help avoid the difficulty swallowing you had last night.

Waiting impatiently for the confirming email for the cards I bought last night for Nick.  I must have done it on the Compaq computer so it doesn't show up on my two other computers.

Feeling well.  Need to do the fax to so cal edison, pay all pure, pay scwd, pay Marion's income taxes, pay Marion's property taxes, and settle with the city of Santa Clarita, or what ever.  Start soon.

Do more laundry, clean house and car, feel well, and exercise more.

Getting ready to wash clothes, clean the apartment, do the bills, and get ready for work.  I am very happy with my life at this moment.

I am thankful to the max for my family in NJ, PA, and WV.
I am thankful for my positive physical health.
I am thankful for my positive emotional attitude and health, as far as I can tell.
I am thankful for my wonderful apartment for only $422 per month, in a security building, with a washer and dryer down stairs, a quite and considerate group of tenants, a good parking place, and a clean and quiet building, which has been thus for a long time.
I am thankful for my wonderful Ford Taurus.
I am thankful for my Friends, Harold, Les, Allan, and Derick in Idaho.
I am grateful for all that I have now.  I don't deserve it in the sense that I have earned it, but I appreciate it, and it won't last forever.

Got another u/a, did the kidney ultra sound, at a Lancer's liver and onions, got the micro usb cable to directly copy data to the Fire, shopped well at Wal Mart, feeling well, except for a bit anxious re the results of the kidney ultra sound.

Talked to Harold half an hour, who has moved in with a girl friend who is the same age as I am.  There's no fool like an old fool, he said with only a touch of envy in his heart.  That must be why I re joined E Harmony.  Hal will probably be on a cruise with his mother for the next two weeks, then we can do video Skype or Face Time calls.  I'll go see him as soon as I can get some time off again.

I really want to re connect with Les and Allan.  I'll see when soon.

Not any progress on losing weight.  Still eating for health, and my knees hurt a lot up and down stairs.  We'll see.

Up at 9am waiting impatiently for the Kindle Fire.

Out last night with AJ, Rey, and Alex.  I ordered a $25 GBA game for Alex on Amazon, bought $86 worth of dvds, (New York) for me, helped Alex with his Android phone loading a GBA rom on it, called Rey on Facebook Skype, showed AJ how to dl you tube music and save it as mp3s, and how to work his printer.  Dinner at that outdoor hamburger place and all was well. 

Dinner for me at Bob's, and the patty melt was good, but not great.  I have to start watching what I eat pretty soon.  I think when I get the Up from Jawbone.

Be at Kaiser for the ultra scan at 245 pm, do laundry here while waiting for the Kindle Fire, and watch New York and Atlas Shrugged, and four other recent dvds, and watch some of the newly purchased tv shows on iTunes.

I am looking forward to what I can store, access and watch on the Fire.  Can I access the Android app store or only the Amazon App Store?  Can I access the Amazon Video downloads of movies and tv shows I have stored on my computers?  Can I play or convert and play iTunes non protected videos, or protected videos?  Time will tell.

Keep up the good work, clean the house, detail the car, try to get the heater temp raised and the engine idle lowered on the Taurus, and call Les Soss and Allan Casanova soon.

Frustrating day at home, so far. Dinner and a movie next.

Downloaded a program from tucows and it seems to have corrupted my system badly.  It installs itself as the default search browser and I'm having a hard time getting rid of it.  My iTunes is corruptd and won't sync my iphone, and it abends when doing simple app updates.  Adobe Reader won't read.  It too abends.

I called Inga to tell her all was well, but I can't fix her loneliness issue.

I can't find Harold Blanton, but I will try the Georgia number now.

Then to Lancer's for dinner and then In time the movie and call Howard tomorrow and complete the estate checking account details.

Feeling well and rested after NYC.  Perhaps a trip to Bowers Museum tomorrow.  Terra Cotta Warriors on display there.

I should be able to return the old Nano to Apple and get a new Nano back from them, so I can take the new Nano back soon.  I also want the LOTM dvd from VDM soon.

Up at 7am after a quick sleep. Computer futures

Updating iPhone, iPad, iPods, and all other up datable devices.  I recall Paul Thurrott and Andrew Zarian talking about the future of computing.  My thoughts:

You need a large screen to compute properly.  Big text, bright pictures, extra detail, good keyboard, powerful ac driven cpu with large hard drives, probably a nas, raid storage, cloud storage, and definitely internet access and storage.  All of this, and more, can only be done on a powerful desktop, not a laptop, or a tablet, or a phone mobile device.  To be sure, we need portable devices and hand held devices, but the main job of a computer is not to run apps, be they Apple, Android, or Windows phone or Win8 apps.  Apps are small, portable programs that do specific tasks.  Computer programs are large, complex programs that download, convert, process, print, or otherwise output data for better use of the user.

An app is to a complete physical exam by a trained physician as a blood pressure test is to a complete physical exam by the team at the hospital, including labs, diagnostic imaging, and such.  I'll add more as I think of it.

Home at last, thank God almighty, I'm home at last.

6.5 hours from JFK on Jet Blue and I made it to Burbank.  Saw some of NYC as I left on the NYC Air Porter to JFK.  Good flight, but longer than the one back east.

Shopped for milk, cheese, candy, humus and frozen food.  Very tired legs now.  No shuttle back home since the flight was a bit late either on the schedule or in real life, or both.  Still home safe and sound and thankful a lot.

Tomorrow wash clothes, shave, pay bills, and be happy to be home.  Thank God it is over.

Now Friday 10:30am, preparing to go to NYC...

Spent yesterday, Thursday, 11-10-11 in NYC walking the streets with Marie.  We went to:

Times Square,
the Diamond District,
Central Park and Central Park Zoo,
A seafood reasturant for bites and drinks,
Shopping at several stores, and walked about 5 miles overall.

I was very tired but happy.  A great day.

Now, after breakfast with Dick and Inga, I'm getting ready to take the bus into NYC Port Authority and then to JFK and then the 6:30 pm red eye to Burbank.

I've had a great time in NJ and hope to come back in my Ford Taurus after I retire.  Time will tell.

Good day again. Drove to Freehold Apple Store again  to buy new Nano to test  out.  So far, not bad.  Not sure if I will keep it, but we'll see.  Got Dick's printer to work, all systems go, NYC tomorrow and home Friday pm.  I'm looking forward to being home, but a bit sad to leave here.

Dinner in Philly with Terry and Larry and Gail and ...

Eric, the doctors, and Ingrid and Ward, the great grandchildren and Uncle Bill.  Good tour on a double decked bus of Philly and a fine trip to and from here to Philly and back.  Hope to go to NYC tomorrow with Marie and then Thursday here and Friday I leave out of JFK at 6pm to go home on the Red Eye.

Met Linda and Bob and had dinner at Marie's beautiful house.  They have a beautiful house and dog and cat.  Now to sleep and see about Philly tomorrow.

Visited Marie and Bruce and their great standard poodle.  Good trip to Freehold.  Good breakfast with Inga and dinner at 2 McRibs.  All is well.

Linda and Bob here tomorrow, dinner at Marie's, perhaps drive to Philly with Inga Monday or Tuesday.  Looking forward to more vacation time.

Saturday 8:30am, about to eat breakfast and NYC!

Sleeping and eating well.  I want to drive around Tom's River a bit, eat breakfast, or possibly 2 McRibs, and go to NYC.  I don't want to stand on line for more than an hour for no guarantee of a bargain.  I could tour NYC or go to the Apple Store, or go any where.  Leaving soon.

Good Friday in NJ. Rented Hundai, drove in NJ

Dick and I got the rental, talked a lot, and drove us and Inga around rural NJ.  Dinner at a sports bar and talked a lot with Inga.  I will investigate annuity and life insurance for me.  All else if well.  NYC, Phantom, or Hair, or West Side Story on Broadway tomorrow.  Linda will be here Sunday, perhaps Inga and I to Philly Monday, Tuesday is open now, Wednesday return the car, Thursday to NYC again, and Friday back to JFK and home by Friday night at 10pm.

I'm quite satisfied so far with my trip.  A good experience and a learning experience.  I love my family and am very happy to have them.  I hope to see them a lot more once I retire and drive out here and have more time to spend with them.

I want to look into transportation for Inga on a weekly and monthly basis with one of the local cab or transportation organizations.  This bothers her a lot, as it would me.  She should have the money and should have her independence as much as possible.  We'll see.

Walked Alantic City boardwalk with Inga and Marie

Nice drive to Atlantic City.  Good lunch at PF Chang and a couple of hours later home in Beachwood, NJ.  Time to rent a car tomorrow.  Perhaps Phantom on Saturday at 2pm and Philadelphia on Monday, or so.  Marie is similar to me, as is Inga, no surprise.  Having a very good time.

Dinner with Inga and Dick. Alantic City tomorrow.

All seems to be well.  Good dinner of angel hair pasta, meatballs, and Ragu spaghetti sauce and a salad.

Now time to catch up on the net, check out the rental cars, and sleep well tonight.

I can't find LOTM, but I have a ton of stuff to occupy me on the flight for 5 hours tonight.  I probably won't be able to watch a dvd on the laptop in my middle seat anyway.

I'll go out to buy more socks and underwear for the trip soon.  I also want two McRibs before the flight.

I feel alert and alive.  Some might describe it as anxious or nervous.  I think it is a good state of alertness designed by nature to keep us on our toes in times that are important to us, not necessarily existentially important.

The shuttle to the airport should be outside my building between 6:20 and 6:35pm.  Be there or be square.

Now to go pay the rent and give Greg the key to my mail box.  I should get a box of dvds about November 8, 2011 as well.  bye for now.

I'm on the Screencast and their is a notable delay between the time I type this and the time it is displayed on the screen of my 27 inch monitor.  This shouldn't be a problem when watching movies, but it is disconcerting if doing regular computing stuff.

Now to go eat breakfast and go to work.  Pick up meds first too.

Took Jessie to visit his family in Palmdale.  Good drive.  Computers and xbox and stuff upon return.  I cleaned up the apt mostly and they did not replace the sink fixtures they said they were going to do.

to Palmdale with Jessie to see his family.  Slept from 5am to 9:30am and now I'm getting ready to go to work.  I bought a nice 21 inch roll away bag for checking on the flight to NYC in three days.

Got my tires rotated finally.  Breakfast at Henri's and I had a swallowing problem.  Nothing serious.  To work almost on time.  Took James and Aaron to ILP and forgot James' meds and had to to a UOR.  I will get new kitchen sink faucets Saturday, so I need to clean up the apartment.

I think I will take the black backpack and put the computer in the stowed bag.  With an iPad, an iPhone, an iPad, I should be ok for 5 hours on the plane, particularly on a red eye flight to NYC.  We'll see.

Caring theme dinner, but not implemented for Nick or Aaron, both of whom were not allowed to go to the dinner event.  So much for deeds matching words.

Otherwise, I got my car washed well.  My wrist feels better due to the heat and wrist bands, I guess.

Bought electronic kit and helicopter at Frys, dinner at Lancer's, got my oil and filter changed, but no car wash or tire rotation, or heater or engine idle adjustment yet.  Tomorrow is another day.  I must be at work at 1pm.

Reading Issacson's book on Jobs, and it reminds me of my life and the turns I could have taken.  How different would my life today have been, but for a small change here or there.  Good book, any how.

I also got three wrist bands or heat things and my right wrist feel better now than it has in two weeks.

Pick up meds, pay bills, pay State Farm, buy checked bag for the flight next Tuesday, and remain happy, healthy, and as wise as possible.

I'm not sure why I can't deflect Aaron's neediness for instant gratification all the time.  Am I harsh with him because I can be and he will take it?  Does he bring it on himself by his insistent pleading for what he can't have now?  He is later content after he has changed his focus.

Otherwise a good pm.  xbox on earth and ocean shared.  Computers used constantly.  Fatoma got his WD external hard drive filled with music and videos.  I also cleaned his computer a bit.  Next week for more.

Dinner at Bob's after work.  Excellent.  Got tripod mount case for iPhone, finally.  Now to rest and only have 9 days until Departure Day, November 1, 2011.

I was not always cooperative or cheerful, twice.

I was angry at Andrew for teasing and lying  about a Gatorade he was teasing Jamie with.  Then James stated he was going to use the iPad and 7:15 and I said No you're not." and other words.

Often the kids regard me as a free Best Buy and electronics warehouse.  I'm not, but the balance between being helpful and cooperative is a difficult one to find.

Other than that, I have a new case for my iPhone, that I like a lot, and my car is wonderful, and I can do a bunch of chores tomorrow am, like balance the tires and wash and oil change the Taurus.  Good idea.

Close to a perfect day. ILP, xbox, and computers

Slept a lot in hopes of ending this cold that just keeps hanging on.  I moved the Honda 5 feet back and love the Taurus with all of my heart.  What a fine machine.

Best sleep in a while. 12:30am to 8:30am. Good

I feel better but am still fighting off the last effects of my weeks long cold.  I am eating well to give my body nourishment to heal itself.

Pay the final bills to SCE, scwd, and all pure pools.  Get my car heater adjusted and oil changed and washed.  Deposit the check for $178 and get $100 in quarters.

Now to get going.

Wednesday am, vacation is on, breakfast at Lancers

Talked with Inga, Terry, and Marie.  Paid for the tickets.  Now to plan and pack.  Late at work again, but a good day.  Took Gabe to Ortho and got Andrew's glasses fixed.  All else was ok.  I can't seem to remember the pin.  Try harder.

Bought lots of food and supplies.  Feeling well due to the good rest I got this am.  I used the reminder to ask siri to remind me to call zyggy when I wake up.  My 3gs still works well on wifi.  Now to try skype and I'm going to get the 5StarResponder to use as my personal gps, 911, and assistance needed device.

Stayed home and tried to call Michael with no success, got data on how to pay scwd, all pure pool, and soon Edison as well.  Pay them and then do the property taxes and the accounting with Howard.

I need to know if I can go on the vacation in two weeks.  Find out tomorrow.

I have anemia and need a new blood test.  I should open up an email contact with Ackerman.

I am still a bit tired, but feel better today than a lot of the past 7 days, physically.

Now to go and wash and service my wonderful Ford Taurus and eat very well.

We went shopping with AJ, and had burgers in Old Pasadena.  AJ was mugged recently by three local wolves.  Rey spent the weekend with his day in Sun land-Tujunga, and Alex spent time in the hospital for digestive illness recently.

Good Monday. Hard to get going, but almost there.

Called back Kaiser, Angel of the escrow company, AJ (texted), Rey, Playboy canceled, and All Pure to be sent a check for $47.50 to close account.

Now to shower and go get my glasses repaired, eat well, and see the guys in the East Valley and such.

I don't sleep well these days and wake up after about 4 hours still feeling tired.  Sometimes I can nap and then feel well, but not always.  Time will tell.

I am looking at flights to jfk and back for the two weeks I may get off, or going to see Harold and Les as an alternative.  I'll call to check on the vacation tomorrow.  Now to have a great day.

vdm was fine.  I worked with Chris, Rob, and all was fine.  The kids had a great evening, they completed all pm routines on time, there were no fights, and all chores were completed.

I am thinking about a round trip to JFK on Jet Blue for a week or two of my vacation, if I get it and they can put me up in NJ and or PA.  I'll call tomorrow to check on it.  I could also go to Northern Ca, or just stay home and rest.  I wish to be done with this cold.

My cold is almost gone.  Ate leftovers for breakfast. IOS5 is installed and running well on the 3GS, the iPad2, and the IPhone 4S.  Now to test the hdmi mirroring out on the iPhone 4S.

Got the iPhone 4S at 1pm, but unable to activate it.

Others have the same problem.  I am discouraged but will try again now that I am home and have more time.  Great day at vdm, except my phone went off in a meeting with Lukas.  Otherwise all was well.  I have a lot of chores for Monday am as usual.

The iPhone is out for delivery from 6:20am.  I hope I get it before 1pm.  I also want to do laundry and make some bill payments.

I'm still fighting off the effects of the cold.  My throat hurts and I cough a bit, but I seem to be getting better.  Let's hope.

I'm thinking about asking for a two week vacation before 2012.  I could go to Los Gatos, Monterey, San Francisco, or just stay home and rest.  Time will tell.

Sequin now works mostly am shift, Armando no weekends, and I remain the same.  I think I will ask for two weeks off before the new year, and go up north?

I only want to take one computer to work at a time.  The HP is fine.  The Fujitsu is a luxury and not needed.

$25 pizza and it slipped in the trunk and is now all on one side.  Still tastes good.  Be of good cheer.

Notes after the physical...

Ackerman was almost an hour late for the physical.  I would have loved to chat but I had to stay focused.  He did all the required tests, he cautioned me about my kidney function, he ordered an ultra sound and an occult blood test.  I should ask for a colonoscopy again, just to be on the safe side, particularly since I have diverticulitis.  I am not sure now about the benefits of juicing, except for juicing of vegetables which I don't want to eat, such as rutabagas, turnips, parsnips, and other such.  He said if it tastes good it isn't good for you, as in orange or apple juice, rather than simply eating the orange or apple.  I wonder about spinach and celery and tomatoes and carots as a drink.  To much sugar, since it tastes good?   I'll look into this.

Excellent dinner of liver and onions at Lancer's.  All was close to perfection, just as last night's patty melt was excellent.  I bought laundry soap, toilet paper, Kleenex, and frozen food at Wal Mart.  Too tired to do laundry.  Now reading reviews for the iPhone 4S and waiting for iOS 5 and my new phone.

Overall I feel well.  My biggest complaints are the difficulty I have swallowing at times, and my sore knee joints.  I suspect that my plan to lose at least 50 pounds via juicing and exercising will have a significant effect on this.

I stopped taking the Sertraline and the Etodolac more than a month ago after I was ill for a week due to food poisoning, I suspect.

I plan to stop working six months from now, and visit friends, relatives, and memorable places all across the USA via a road trip in my car with and without various friends and relatives, as available.

Now Monday almost 1pm, physical at 3pm

Returned Crucial memory via UPS last night, canceled xbox live, ate a big delicious patty melt at Bob's Big Boy in Toluca Lake.

Slept til 11 am this morning and now to get ready for the physical.

Goals:

Buy more clothes washing soap, pay off and cancel Edison, SCWD, All Pure Pool Service, and any Santa Clarita bills due.  Then do the accounting with Howard and settle the estate.  Now to go.

How thankful am I for this excellent 27" monitor?

I thank my lucky stars.  It has excellent color, brightness, no blur, and seems excellent to me in all aspects.  Thanks be to God, and to me for being brave enough to buy it.

Canceled the xbox live account effective 11911.  Now to return Cruical and make the deposit of the EEOC check and return the laptop power supply thing and then eat a good breakfast and wash clothes.

I slept until almost noon, and thus felt a lot better.  I hope the dr apt tomorrow will go ok.  No bad news.

Continue to be happy, healthy, and wise.

Up Saturday 9am feeling fairly well.

Elaborate dreams of VDM, Josh, James, Amy, Aaron and others.  No nightmares but fairly close to recent reality.  Frustration with James for over soaping and over loading his washers, as he is wont to do.

My cold still seems to be winding down, I hope.  I don't have to be at work until 3pm today, so I hope to do laundry a lot, and play the xbox somewhat as well.

Monday I want to complete Marion's bills and such,  see Howard regarding things yet to be done, try to sell the Honda, and get ready for my physical Tuesday at 3pm.

iPhone 4S to be here a week from today...

I am trying to use vlingo to see how web search via voice works.  So far pretty well, actually.

Now to go eat at Cupids.  I love the hot dogs and I don't want to do laundry or other chores now.

Awake at 6am, ordered iPhone 4S Now laundry...

Hard to do but spending lots of money again.  Almost $500 on the new iPhone, including the $45 data and tethering plan I signed up for.  I really want the hdmi output and the personal assistant feature, if it works as I hope it will.

I should be able to simply say:

Google the average family income in the usa for the last ten years...

Or

Bing the history of the Eifel Tower, including its cost to construct and yearly maintenance costs...

Play a youtube clip of Dirty Harry saying "Make my day."

A dozen things I haven't thought of yet.  Time will tell.

Reading Don't sweat the small stuff again, and it is great.  Taco Bell is very tasty as well.  I love the new alarm and the door opener and locker.  Now to read, watch, and play xbox and have a great night, followed by laundry tomorrow, I hope.

Good day so far.  Two people offered me $1K for the Honda when I moved it out of the garage today.  I will call the sanitation truck lady tomorrow if I don't get a call from the other guy.

Nothing of significance is going on here.  The boys went across the street for their supermarket walk through and I chose not to go with them.  I hope nothing untoward happens.

The Fujitsu works well with the 8GB but I can see no real difference is speed due to the doubling of the RAM installed.

Escrow may close soon.  I have to move the Honda and give up the key, although they will change the locks first thing.  Now to find the CA agency to sell the Honda to for $1K and get rid of the car.  Then to check out the Santa Clarita and such bills, if any and pay them.  Keep healthy and have a great day.

11:50am, almost time to go to work.

Installed 8GB of memory in Fujitsu, and adjusted the new replacement power adapter, and all works well.  I should be eternally grateful for all the wonderful things I have in my life.

I am working on fighting off my cold, I am sleeping better, most of my test results at kp are in the normal range, I still haven't fixed the billed issues with Marion's house, but I will as soon as possible, I have to find that $178 check and deposit it, and now to download the Don't sweat the small stuff book, for both me and Nick, and anyone else who will read it.

I'm still fighting off my cold.  I slept about four hours and woke up with my pillow half soaked in sweat.  I couldn't go back to sleep, so here I am charging batteries, getting ready to install memory in the Fujitsu, and feeling good about my life. 

I still need to pay any bills Marion had or has on her house as soon as possible.  I also want to sell the Honda to the state of California for $1,000, which makes my actual out of pocket cost of the Ford Taurus to be $2,700, and it had a new water pump, a new timing belt, and a completely cleaned cooling system.

I should get xbox Rage at the door Thursday morning.  I'm thinking of eating eggs and italian sausage for breakfast, or a chicken pot pie, or going out to Lancer's, or what ever.

I'll pick up and resume my blood pressure meds today or tomorrow. 

I want Jay Taylor to try to increase the heat output of the Taurus's heater, slow down the default idle speed, and try to block engine fumes from entering the cabin.  Ford can also evaluate this issue.

I need a change of oil, a new filter, and a good car wash, and the tires rotated and checked soon.

Busy day, but a good day. New alarm and door unlocks

Thank goodness I was able to find a place to install the basic Viper anti-theft and door unlock system for only$200 cash american.  I think I need new batteries in this keyboard.

l also got a new power adapter for my Fujitsu and new memory as well.  Now I can cancel the Crucial order.I also ate well at Henri's, and filled my car up and now to eat Chili and Frosty from Wendy.

Slept from 3 to 10am, or so. Still fighting off cold.

I feel well, overall.  Hungry for breakfast at Henri's.  Check out auto alarm places in Northridge and Reseda.  Considering buying a new universal laptop charger.

Considering buying an iPhone 4S for the camera, video camera, faster processor, 64 GB of storage, perhaps video mirroring via hdmi cable I already have, and I can use it to record my trip across the usa when I retire. Time will tell.

Busy day, Kaiser labs done, bought GOW 2, and

Broasted chicken at Lancers was good and healthy.  Almost done with Sixkill, shopped a bit at Wal Mart, and xbox exploration.  Ordered Rage for $50 from Amazon in two days delivery.

Take meds and get refills, watch Apple iPhone 5 release tomorrow, finish Marion's house debts tomorrow, and continue to be happy, healthy and wise, at least as much as possible.

Ordered a Kindle Fire for November 15, 2011 for $200, and two Segway tours of LA, Beverly Hills, and or La Brea Tar Pits.

I'm hungry but not desiring any of the food I have here, and yet I have no strong desire to drive to the nearest food source, or walk to Denny's or else where.  Oh, the problems I suffer.

I think I'll make garlic toast and eat blue cheese, Braunsweger, and stuff.  I really want a chocolate malt but see above.

Correct any bills on Marion's house, pay everything necessary to pay.

Sell the Honda for $1,000
Call Terry, Harold, Les and Allan and Inga.

Talk to Crucial regarding the delay in shipping the memory modules, unnecessarily to me.

Oh, wait.  I have tomatoes, cucumbers, and can make a tomato, cucumber salad, which would go well with the garlic toast.  Now to get to it, and find the power  cord for the Fujitsu.

Slept 2a to 7a, Frys, and napped some more.

No memory from Cruical, great pm at vdm, ocean, feeling almost like I might be coming down with a cold, but otherwise very well.

Third day I worked in a row, for a change.  Took James to Eagle Rock exam.  Good pm.  Kids were greedy as usual.  No issues and all is well.  Good enough.

3rd day up at 9am feeling well. Sleep 2a to 9a for good health.

Good night last night at vdm.  Took James and Aaron to ILP.  James bullied Aaron into allowing him, James, to have shot gun seat both ways.  All else was well.

Sleeping better 2am to 9am daily.  I want to restart the Prazoin again for heart health.

Monday sell the Honda to the State of California for $1K, pay the balance of Marion's bills, and clear the remaining paperwork for the Estate.  Check to see if I can use an accountant and charge it to the Estate.

Call Harold, Les, Allan, Derick, Terri, Marie, and Inga and tell them of my plans.

Now to go buy the usb extender, and two software packages.  Have a good day, Baby Love.

Good night last night at vdm.  Choir with Kirsten went well.  Lots of kids on the computers, xbox, iPad, and ps2.  No issues with my recent ills, thank God.

The perils of not sleeping during the night time.

Slept off and on, not all at once like I like to do.  Now 11 am, feeling rested, more or less, and getting ready to go to work.  Memory upgrade for this Jujitsu should be here by Friday, Saturday, or Monday at the latest via USPS.  Good.

I feel guilty about not being at work so much, so I want to try to be there on time for a change.  I'm hungry now, also for a change, just took my meds, ready to go out.  I wish I had time to go set up the bank account and then to the escrow place, but I can do that tomorrow.

Clean my actual desktop, set up both laptops to big displays, and return the King's Speech asap.

I still haven't touched the juicer.  Time will tell.

I am looking forward to a USA cross country trip, both alone and with friends to visit the most important sites in the usa I haven't seen enough of yet.

I can also travel with Allan, Harold, or Les, depending upon where we want to go together.  Time will tell.

My goal for the next six months if to maintain a positive attitude, become as healthy as possible with things that are under my control, and be benevolent toward those around me.

Fine Sunday, ill for vdm, saw Medved in San Berdo

Dinner at Bob's, car needed 1 qt oil, ran well otherwise, need service and tire rotation soon, feeling well mostly these days.  I adore this monitor.  The size alone for the price is astonishing to me.

Change the mail address for the late Mrs Marion Terry,
Open the blocked account at BofA,
Pay remaining bills til now,

I don't think I will be going on a trip to Israel with Medved for more than $5K for one week.  That is too rich for my blood, and I have little or no interest in religious issues.  I can always go to Israel on my own for $1K or so, if need be.

I can also do Europe with Harold or Les for that amount.

21 hours in a plane makes one weak.

Sunday am, feeling well. 27 inch monitor is...

better than I had even hoped it would be.  Movies in Blue Ray are crisp as can be, the web pages and dvds and web videos are as crisp as the original video is, and the screen is significantly larger than the 24 inch version.

Now to sleep a bit, call out for today, and be in San Berdino by 4 pm or so.  Leave here at 3 pm?

The screen is a crisp white, the colors are very colorful, the sound is great, and I love that it works well with all three hdmi equipted computers.  Wow.

An important point in my life.

I feel a lot better and am looking forward to going out to eat at either Bob's or Lancers.  I also want to go to Fry's and buy Grease and Minority Report in Blue Ray, perhaps a juicer if I can find one, and what ever else I can find.

I started this entry to note that it is time to clean up my life, as well as my body.  I include my computers and monitors as well.  I need to service my Ford, sell my Honda, and make my life better by effort alone.

Almost 3pm. Time to shower and go eat at Bob's.

I'm beginning to feel almost ok again.  I still have to call out tomorrow so I can go meet Michael Medved in San Bernardine.

I think I can eat Bob's patty melt, with Cherry Coke, salad, and french fries, go to Frys, and have a great day.  I wonder if I caught a touch of the flu, or what?

Now to get on with my life.

Saturday PM. Feeling a bit better, hungry, and ...

Shop at Fry's for Grease, Minority Report, and what ever else I can find.  Call out ill for today and tomorrow.  See Howard and call Larry Monday.

I really like this new 27 inch monitor.  It runs at 1920 by 1080 on my Fujitsu, even thought the Fujitsu has a native resolution of 1366 by ....  It seems clear and bright and good text and graphics.  So far so good.

Thank the Good Lord for all the benefits I have in my life.

Saturday morning after half a day at vdm. Slept a lot.

I feel a bit better.  Very exhausted Thursday night and all day Friday.  Left work at 6pm and slept til 8am, about.  I don't think I will go to work today or tomorrow, in an attempt to help myself heal.

I love this new Planar 27 inch, $250 monitor.  It looks great.  It runs well on my asus as well.

Just got the 27 inch monitor from Dell via UPS

Doing laundry and taking Metamucil and took meds and then to work.  Monday with Howard and Larry and then say good bye to Marion's house and Santa Clarita Valley as well.

Sleeping a bit better. Still up too many times.

Dell's monitor is out on the truck now.  Call back Larry and Howard re sale of the house for $171K.

Move the Honda, finish paying the bills, get the key to Larry or Howard, forward the mail to me or have the new owners do so?  Howard will advise.

Now to wait for the monitor, go to Wal Mart, or simply have a good day.

Don't bring the xbox to work any more, or the Fujitsu computer, and possibly even the iPad and PS2, and the Compaq computer, let alone the iPhone or iPod.  Time to move on with my life.

Forgot about training, poor day, too many for me.

The xbox and a computer will stay home from now on.  Too much to keep an eye on, particularly with a guy who is looking for a crime of opportunity.  He made off with a cell phone and an mp3 player last Sunday night.  No more opportunities will I try to present.

Otherwise, my left knee seems like it has a bone chip floating around.  That bothers me and makes me want to go get the juicer soon and loose a significant amount of weight.  Heart wise and swallowing wise can't be hurt as well.  Tomorrow.

Slept ok, up too often, Fitbit did not record sleep.

I got a 16 GB sdhc card and the Susskind book from Ontrac just now.  I want to see a dentist today, get my oil changed and a good look at by Ford, get my car washed inside and out, and go check on Marion's house and my Honda.

Now to check Craigslist re selling my Honda, or trashing it with the State of California for $1,000.

I almost dropped.  Got a new one hundred dollar wallet, a new case for my keys, Wrath of Kahn, Homefront guide book, Blade Runner, True Romance, Star Wars, Taxi Driver, and Doctor Zhivago, and Dune all in Blue Ray.  I also bought a pillow, an hdtv antenna, milk, ice cream, and a copy of Heat with lots of extra features.  It seems I shop until I drop, and then I shop some more.  I love spending money.  Lucky for me I am on a dual income for now, else I would be broke.  Great day.  Now for the car repair and the dentist and to deal with the Honda and find out about the house.  How can so many good things happen to me without bad things, which will come as sure as the day is long.  Thank your lucky stars while you have them.

Difficult shift at VDM. Restraint, stolen phone, etc.

I almost have the new HP backpack filled with the Fujitsu computer and the iPad, and my other carry ons.  The old red back pack holds the xbox and has plenty of room still.  The yellow backpack will hold the ps2 and the Compaq computer and assorted stuff that fits well.

Jose attempted to pass a lighter to Mike M on Earth's couch.  He was seen by Jermain who confiscated the lighter.  Jose became enraged and flinched at Rick who initiated the pro act take down, even though this is against policy.  Christian became upset as well as Sammi, who was accoused of being in on the transfer of contraband, even though Sami played his game and didn't even seem to know what was going on until after the event.  Sami's room was searched to no avail.  Sami became upset and asked to go to the ps room to cool down.  He was refused permission and Sequin suggested I talk to him in the staff office.  As we entered the office Sami, not being one to miss an oppertunity, pocketed Jermain's phone and then removed the battery and hid it behind the computer in the office.  Only later at 9pm did Jermain search behind the computer and find his phone with the battery out so it wouldn't ring.  I will give a work of advice to Sami about being honest, but he probably won't hear a word.

Sequin banned the use of electronics on Earth unit only for the balance of the shift.  Punishment for those who did not do a thing.  Oh, well.  Rick and I talked about the laws governing an authority figures response to a threat or an attempted assault.

Allan ended up with two Clips and I got some back.  Otherwise, thank God all is well that ends well.  Jose cut the heck out of his arm, but this could have been avoided, I believe. 

Otherwise a good night, saved $19 on $50 of food at Ralph's, and a good night was had by all.

Sunday am awake and well at 9am. Considering options.

Should I take next Sunday off and go to meet Medved in San Berdino at the Hilton?  $20 for the two hour talk, $19 more for the meet and greet at 4 to 5pm.  I probably will go.  Sign up Monday am.

Change the oil and have the wonderful Taurus checked out at Galpin Ford.  Check filters, particularly the cabin filter and the air passage from the engine compartment to the passenger compartment.

Time to rotate the tires?  If not now, then when?

I retired on May 14, 2011, on my 66th birthday.  I am continuing to work because I enjoy earning the double income and I don't have enough money yet to do the things I want to do.  I hope to work until April or May 14, 2012.

Then I plan to drive to Los Gatos, Monterey, Idahoe, Texas, Ohio, Rockford, Chicago, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Niagra Falls, Washington D.C., and back home again in a round trip.

I am looking into a sub 1000 pound trailer to tow behind my Taurus.  It needs a bed, a big table, a refrigerator and freezer, and a bathroom with a shower, if it is to be livable.  I could always buy the water where I am staying and use an electric heater to heat the water on demand.  How hard would it be to make a shower.  How about a camp shower stored in the trailer when not in use?  How often do I need a shower if I am only driving in an air conditioned car?  Every few days?  Or along the way at COA campgrounds showers?  I'll look into this.

I could also save the money of the cost of the trailer and simply stay in motels along the way.  That way, no shower issues, much.

I want an internet connection, fast, and reliable as well while on the road.

This log is turning into a stream of consciousness record of my plans.  This is a good thing!

Saturday morning. Awake at 7am feeling well.

Tried twice to install Win8 Dev Preview on the Toshiba, with no success.  Errors and lockups seem to indicate unreliable HHD.  I would buy a replacement if it were cheap enough and plug compatible.  I'll check Fry's, then NewEgg, and possibly Toshiba.

I feel much better these days.  My new shorts and $50 back pack seem to be excellent.  I want Dub Edition and the games I can't lay my hnads on right now.

I also want to get my hair cut, open a Chase account, check with Howard, look forward to my new 27 inch monitor, change my oil and filters and such, continue to be grateful, thankful, appreciative, and forward leaning.  I think Medved next Sunday night will be a good thing, for $39.  We'll see.

Friday am, slept sort of well, took meds for a change

Feeling a bit better with bp meds, GERD meds, and Excedrin for body aches and pains.  I should continue this habit.

Needed today:

Two new pair of shorts, the computer back pack, 10 cent cdrs, the replacement ps2 memory stick.

Shall I go see Medved next Sunday night, rather than going in to work?  I hope so.

Wash car and get teeth looked at and adjusted.

Sell the Honda, probably without smogging it.  A shame, but I don't want the hassle of trying to sell the Honda for $500 over what I can get by simply driving it in to a CA state center.

Install Win8 on the Toshiba laptop.

Quiet, calm Thursday pm. Mike on vacation

Bought memory card for ps 2, which I have to return, two or more games, Blue Ray ocean disk, and a good time was had by all.  Now Taco Bell and a quiet night.

Thursday am and all is well.

Ordered Dell 27 inch monitor with speakers for $259 and delivered in about a week.  Tried to order 8 GB memory from Cruicel, to no avail.  Try later.

Slept a lot today and now to go to work by 2 pm.  Chocolate malt now and then to work.  My legs seem to hurt a lot.  I have to get back into the habit of taking Metamucil and the heart meds every day.  Now to have a good day.

Wednesday in Anaheim for BuildWindows Blogger

Got to the Blogger Bash after putting money in the ccu and getting the car washed.  Nothing significant going on.  I couldn't even see one person with a Win tablet.  My iPad was the only thing in evidence.  I had a root beer and went to the cd-rom store and got lots more dvds.  Wal Mart was good for food and sheets and dvds and such.  Quite night.  Dell order on hold for now.  I want that to go through soon.  To work Thursday, payday tonight, and ssa next Wednesday.  I am inclined to sell the Honda to California for $1K for ease of use on my part.  I regret it, but I don't want the hassle of smoging and selling the wonderful machine.  I'm thinking of going to Lancer's or Henri's for breakfast soon.

Tuesday and all is well.

Watched Win 8 dev preview and thinking about dl ing the dev preview to install on an old machine, like the Toshiba.  We'll see.  I might have to get the Toshiba bios reflashed, or perhaps I could do it myself.

Win 8 looks very good.  Better, smaller, faster, more efficient os, with a new tiled gui on top or as the default setting.  I am thinking of going to the ms store in Century City to look at windows stuff before it all changes.

I love the Blu Rey disks and the ones I bought to use on the Fujitsu and the 24 inch monitor.  I have Avatar for the xbox and a blu rey version of the movie as well.  I really like the blue ray movie looks.


I also want to deposit checks to re pay myself for the money advanced to Marion's estate account so I have more than $100 in my account.  I also want to set up the wi fi network here, and get two monitors working on my ASUS machine, and a good monitor for the Fujitsu to use for blue ray.  Now for a good day again here and about.

Monday was a fine day. Out with AJ, Rey, and Alex

Slept a lot, them washed car and $102 at the cd rom store, Carls Jr. and activated Win 7 on my computer for aj, who couldn't seem to remember what was the difference between a music only file and a video file.  I became irritated at his slowness multiple times, for which I feel a bit bad.  He really should learn to pay attention to that what he wants.  Dinner at Little Toni's pizza and a quiet night.

Good Sunday night. Kids and staff all were fine.

Still no meds since last Monday  at this time.  I feel pretty good overall.  I should start back up on the GERD meds and probably the bp meds, and the Citrucel.  That leaves me off the zoloft and the ecodolac or what ever anti arthritus meds I was taking.  I have also stopped the over use or even use of Excedrin, all of which is better.  Time to go on to see the long term results.

Now to shower, go see Rey, Alex, and AJ if they are available.  Time to go.

Worked Saturday night at Earth. All was well.

Felt fairly ok, but weak.  Difficulty later even eating Taco Bell, but I managed.  I hope the weather has finally turned to Fall.  This hot weather is awful.  No up at 8:30am to go to Frys for a bargain on a 9 inch portable DVD player, 100 cd-r s for $10, and a cheap micro sd card class 10.  We'll see.  I also want a second controller and perhaps a new game.  Time to go.  Happy 9/11 day.  Thank God that OBL was tracked down and killed, as well as a bunch of his Hench men.  Not an eliminated threat, but still very much weakened, and reeling from the armed forces of the USA and coalition.

Monday I'll see the former vista boys and Wednesday at BUILD in Anaheim.  See you there.

Feeling better after 4 days of ills.

Monday I had lunch at Laura's, as usual.  Ill for almost 48 hours straight.  Miserable in here since it was as hot as 104 degrees outside and I had the window open and the fan on.  The a/c just wasn't able to cool me down.  Nothing to eat for three days, and only a bit since then.  I will go to work Saturday night and am getting ready to shower, shave, get my hair cut, and go eat at Lancer's for the first time in years.

I'll post my recollections of these food poisoning incidents when I get in the mood.  Now to get on with my life.  I note that I haven't had any pills since Monday morning.  I am going to try to stay off the Excedrin, at least the habitual use.  I would also like to stop the other meds, but that is probably a bad idea.  Time to get going.  I am still weak and prone to laying down in front of the a/c and not being able to sleep.  I have to do something to actually get tired and go to sleep. 

Good Sunday PM at VDM on Earth

Quiet pm shift, no Sequin.  Some boys to the gym.  I installed Epson drivers and software on Fatoma's computer and the kids played xbox, ps2, iPad, and computer.  All was well.  Bring the Sony dvd recorder for Fatoma next week.  Mean while, why not try to record on the dvd recorder from my computer or my xbox using y-cables to split the signal from the rca output to the monitor to the dvd recorder as well.  Good idea!  Will it work?

Too many staff for the kids as usual.  Me, Greg, Kristian, Derick, Jermain, Chris, Ron, John, Shannon, and Rick for twelve kids.  I will try to work on Ocean on Saturday and Earth on Sunday.  We'll see.

Otherwise all is well.  I thank my lucky stars again.  I vow to try to do something productive on my two days off, for a change.  Now for a peaceful night and then sleep.

No major issues with swallowing last night.  I skipped the meds and just ate Taco Bell.  My throat still feels "raw" or sore a bit.  Now taking meds with Metamucil and it is working.  Good night last night at vdm.  One level s kid, Kristopher got a half hour to play the xbox.  I was off somewhere doing something else and wasn't there when it was Kristopher's 9pm bedtime.  Staff Tamisha and Walter waited til 9pm, and then ordered Kristopher to turn the xbox off and go to bed.  He, naturally, delayed until he could complete the mission he was on, and a battle ensued.  Staff make repeated, ever more harsh orders and threats, usually related to "You will never be able to play the xbox again as long as you live".  It seems they pulled the electrical plug.  Kris then stated that he hadn't had snack and this made them even more mad.  They would have sent him to bed with no snack in the past, but there were so many issues and restraints involved in those decisions that the rule became "Staff can't refuse food to the kids."  Kris got his snack and popped in and out of his room for a while, while staff leaned on the counter and continued their conversation as if they were at the park on their day off.  Staff come to work to chat with their friends, fix themselves meals, go out for take out food to eat while being paid, talk on their cell phones, watch sports on tv for hours at a time without moving, and take hour or longer breaks off grounds with no indication that they are not working on their time cards.

Then Walter stands behind the counter and says, "See, this is why we don't allow level s to play video games.  They don't know when to turn the game off."  Actually, they do turn the game off.  It's just that the threats of punishment are not severe enough to get the kids attention immediately.  We shouldn't be called Youth Development Counselors, but rather Youth Development Order'ers, or Youth Development Threateners.  I threaten punishment for a living, and I'm good at my job.  Counsel?  Are you kidding?  I am a big time threatener, or so it seems.  Oh well.  Only a few months to go til I retire.

Get Ford to change engine oil, lower idle if possible, clean engine compartment, and check and repair the center console, increase the heater heat, and plug the engine air into the cabin leak.  I could also call the previous owners of the car and ask them what they did to stop this problem before selling me the car without telling me about the problem.  I still love the car.  It is, without a doubt, the best car I have ever owned, and I love it to pieces with all of my heart.

See the dentist, order more Floro ointment, call Harold, Les, Allan, Terri, Inga, and anyone else I can find.

Thank my lucky stars every day of my life.  Be grateful and appreciative every day of my life from now on.  Be aware that this too will end, although it doesn't seem so as of now.  Funny how we think that what is now will go on forever.  Human nature again, I suppose.  Now to enjoy my life now.

Very difficult dinner last night due to difficulty swallowing again. Could be worse.

Up at 9:30 am feeling well. Almost cold in here. Pay myself back since I found Marion's check book. The court date for the final sale of the house should be soon, I suppose.  I would get paid off as the administrator of the estate, I would have to move my Honda, I would get a pay off as an heir to the estate, and I would no longer need to go to Santa Clarita Valley for much at all.  Nancy Sanford probably still lives there.  I wonder if she is happy.  Am I happy?  Not so much now, but this is a difficult patch.  I am working on making things better.  Time will tell.

Good pm at VDM Lots of xbox, computer, iPad, and five guys on a hike.  Easy pm.  I was worried about not having the above dongle, which I will now keep on the machine.  Tomorrow do the chores and get my life better on track.  Smooth and easy is another moto.  Almost the end of summer.  Usually Labor Day is the last day of summer, thank God.  Now for a quiet night at home.

Hot in the valley, cold in my car which runs like a dream.  Dreamt last night of Marshall boys, Christian, and Nick all at a book store in North ridge.  Nick started the van w/o permission and I was very angry and then I woke up.  Strange what we dream of.  Good day at work and too late for Panda so I got salmon, avocado, Bob's dressing, hummus, and milk and all is well.  I am particularly thankful that so many things are going my way, or at least I am not aware of the disaster that is staring me in the face.  Thanks be to all that is holy.

Up at 7am to update Fujitsu, napped til 1130am, then updated F again.

Good am since I only have a pm shift to work today.  The Fujitsu seems to work well.  It even runs Half Life 2 full screen on the Dell 24 inch monitor.  Up to 107 F outside and I need gas to get to work.  I feel good and all systems are go.  The Dell is running at 1366 x 768 and it seems clear and concise so far.


The blue ray to the Dell was excellent as well.  I'll try it at work tonight.  Now to get ready to go to work.

i5 looks good, but not a lot faster than the Celery pc.  Still happy I have it.  Blu rey, bluetooth, hdmi out, and I may sell the Compaq for $200 to $300.  We'll see.  Good day at choir, xbox, iPad, computers, and ps2.  Thank God I don't have to work am shift with Rhonda and Armando, and Tamisha.  Not bad people, but much too strict and un feeling to the kids, except for CB.

Good pm at VDM. No choir because of re paving roads around the campus. I'm to make choir cds of music. Looking at Core i5 Sony or Fujitsu notebooks as an upgrade to my Compac, which I should be able to sell easily for at least $200 or so.  I could use a faster processor, more memory, a better screen (LED backlite in the Sony machine) Blu Ray in both machines, WiDi in both, and the chance to use more game and simulator software on the new machine.  I could go to Fry's early, by 7:30 am to be an early bird again to help me get a new machine.  Perhaps Kathy or Rojas would like to buy my older machine.

I have 15 minutes to make up my mind to go to Fry's in Woodland Hills to be first in line to look at the two computers.  The Fujitsu is cheaper, but the Sony is a Sony and has LED back lite screen.  The Fujitsu has a bigger hard drive, but I have lots of external storage.  I think the screen is the thing that would distinguish the two.  LED is always better.  I also would like to see the Blue Ray movies that I own already.  Huh!

Pretty good day for the Dog Days of August.  Comfortable in here and nice outside as long as I have my wonderful Ford Taurus.  I was thinking just yesterday how lucky I was to have stumbled upon this great car.  I, initially, dismissed it as a piece of Detroit Iron, but a week later after looking at it, I fell in love with it.  I still love and admire it.  It is comfortable, largely safe for the occupants, great riding with the new tires, very cold with the air conditioning on even half way, wonderful sound system, spacious trunk, easy to use door locks, power steering, power brakes, silky smooth automatic transmission, adequate power even under full load, great power windows, spacious trunk and back seats, and a joy to drive.  If I believed in God, I would say: "Thank you, God".

Too late to get wallet, keycase, or strap clamp today. Work on time, tho!

Good day of ps2, xbox, iPad, and computer.  Took Trayvon to dentist and Nick to wood shop.  Then logs and computers and all was well.  Shopped at Wal Mart for staples, now to nosh and go to sleep early.  Sad to say that Steve Jobs is ceo no more.  Keep hoping. 

Buy wallet, key case, and strap clamp for to hold my shoulder belt.

Up at 9:30am. Slept about 5 hours, or so.  Good sleep in that there was no radio to interrupt my sleep.  I feel rested and refreshed.  Yesterday I paid almost $300 for pool service, bought MS Flight Simulator X, and had a big dinner at Popeye's. My Ford Taurus is still amazing.  I can cruise the Valley when it is 99 F and I have to turn down the A/C to keep comfortable.  All the sound, power, engine, sound systems work almost flawlessly, and yet the car is only worth about $1,400 on a trade in.  Perhaps $4,000 for sale to a private party.  It seems to me to be very under priced for what you get.  Also my meds will be ready for pick up tomorrow after noon.  Good.

I got the 8 Sansa Clip+ 2GB mp3 players and will try to get my money back at VDM from Michael.  This is the last week of vacation for the kids.  Next week end is Labor Day weekend.  I will go to the MS Build Conference in Anaheim around Sept 14, 3011.  Ten years since 9/11, and about to be ten years that I have worked at VDM on December 26, 2011.  It seems like a long time, and then just a heart beat at other times.

I am thinking of working at VDM, if they will have me, the months of January, February, and March.  That way I can get ready for my cross country trip of a life time, make plans as to where to go, and save money as well.  We'll see.  I could also only work on call on Saturday and Sunday nights.  Huh!

Now to do laundry, clean the apt, and go to Lazar's and go to work.  Work to have a positive day.

Marshall again, in lots of detail, even after 10 to 15 years away.  Libya has fallen to the rebels, but Quadaffi is no where to be found.  KP blood test, pay bills for Marion, call Bernard, Zyggy, Terri, Inga, and Harold tonight, for a change.  Wash the car, call to secure the PS2, clean the apt, wash clothes, but tee shirts at Wal Mart, order med refills, live a long, happy life, and prosper and thrive, as much as possible.

Good pm shift at VDM. Aaron again frustrated when papercraft taken away.

Aaron was reduced to tears again when staff made unreasonable demands on this young man, who reacts with "no coping skills" as he puts it.  He only asks for his scissors and glue and he is content.  So, what is the first thing staff takes when he is slow to obey with speed?  His paper and scissors, of course.  Perhaps, someday he will be regarded as someone who is not vulnerable to strong arm tactics, as is Christian, who is now handled with kid gloves.  I believe all the kids should be handled with kid gloves, but that's just me talking.  You can't be too strict, as most others would say.

Other than that, it was a great shift.  Lots of xbox, ps2, iPad, and such stuff.  Call tomorrow to have them secure the ps2 for me.

In the am I will wait for the mail and then pay bills, and get my car washed and call Bernard.  Good.  Also call Zyggy for Sept 14, 2011 off.

Nick had a guitar he had to sell. Dennis Farina showed up as a bad cop and bribed me, Nick, and John Cussak to engage in real estate fraud.  We went to a Jerry Brown type, hand made house for the first installment of the plot.  From there the denouement and Farina was killed, only to be sidled up to by the sleazy, overseer-er type who still wanted his pound of flesh, in spite of the fact that most of the players were deceased.  Cussak type tried to run but he was caught and beaten about the head and shoulders while I helplessly watched on the other side of the fence that I couldn't climb if my life depended on it, which it probably did in this scenario.  All was going to hell in a hand basket when I woke up feeling mostly well. Now for lunch and work my final day this week at VDM.  Tomorrow pay the pool guys, the Edison bill, the Santa Clarita bill, call Wells Fargo, and wash my car, get the cabin filters checked, get the heater temp repaired, and have a wonderful day.  Listening now to Steyn with Milt Rosenberg on a podcast.  Good explanation of the folly of borrowing our way to prosperity on the backs of our grand children.  Tell that to the intellectual establishment, the media, and the politicians.  Have a good day.

Early am get r/r wheel, tire, bearing repaired.  The car isn't safe to drive anymore until it is fixed.  The Honda was so similar, but oh so much more polished.  Sigh! The Ford is still the cat's pajamas.

Slept from 3am to 9am. Up to optimize Compaq Pressario and do chores

I don't want to do laundry.  I still have clean clothes.  Print pics for Rueben and Lorena.  Bring printer for Aaron and Kristopher, clean apt, check car tires, be happy and healthy, call Inga and Terri, keep up the good work.

No video games for level s or 1.  No DS Nintendo for Aaron since he isn't level 2. I was told that he had no cut and paste and no scissors and glue.  Then simply no asking for printing.  Aaron, Damian, and James are the goats who receive the most punishment on the unit.  I'll talk with Mike and Sequin tomorrow.  Otherwise a fine day.  My car is wobbling when it runs.  A bad tire or bearing, or something.  Fix it soon.

REM dream about losing my wallet,(a common theme with me), taking 14 kids home from VDM or someplace, Nancy, Toni, and Judy were there. One of them told me that they didn't laugh much, and I should stop trying to make them laugh. I feel better and a bit more rested than the other day.  Now to do what I want to do to make me feel better and have a better life.

I slept better by going to sleep while it was dark and quiet, w/o the radio.  Keep it up.  Soon, pay pool, electricity, and water bills for Marion's house, check her house and my Honda, eat well, smog my Honda, wash my Taurus, be thankful that my Ford's oil is still clean and only on the mid point of the oil dip stick.  Get my blood drawn at Kaiser, and call Terri and or Inga, and go pick up and feed Alex, AJ, and Rey about 4pm.  Be grateful for all the benefits I have.  Does anyone ever earn or have the right to all the good things that happen in their lives?  No, we simply have to accept the good with the bad, and hope to have more good than bad.
